Health Surveillance

Health surveillance is regulated by Legislative Decree 81/2008, the Consolidated Law on health and safety in the workplace. For employees who use video display terminals (VDTs) systematically and habitually (at least 20 hours per week), the decree requires periodic medical examinations by the Occupational Physician.

Purpose

The examination aims to verify the worker’s fitness for the assigned tasks, identify any issues related to VDT activity (such as visual fatigue, incorrect posture, musculoskeletal disorders), and propose corrective measures or workstation adjustments if necessary.

Frequency

The frequency of the examination is defined in the Health Protocol, prepared by the Occupational Physician based on the risk assessment.

According to Agile Lab’s Health Protocol, medical examinations are carried out as follows:

  • Every 5 years for employees up to 50 years of age
  • Every 2 years for employees over 50 years of age or for those with specific prescriptions

Health surveillance is therefore a fundamental tool for prevention and health promotion in the workplace.

Pre-employment Medical Examination

In compliance with Legislative Decree 81/2008, the company is required to subject all newly hired employees to a preventive medical examination before starting work. This examination aims to verify the worker’s fitness for the specific role and ensure the protection of their health and safety in the workplace.

Guidelines for Medical Examinations

Reporting Hours

The hours spent for the medical examination, including travel time, must be recorded under the following project:

YYYY Agile Medical Examination (where YYYY is the current year, e.g. 2025 Agile Medical Examination)

Travel Reimbursements

Employees undergoing the medical examination within their home province are entitled to reimbursement of travel expenses only if public transportation is used.

If the examination takes place outside the home province, full reimbursement of travel expenses is provided, always prioritizing public transportation.

For proper management of requests in Elapseit, all supporting documentation must be attached, which may include:

  • booking confirmations
  • travel tickets
  • POS receipts
  • documentation for mileage reimbursement (including route details and kilometers traveled)
  • in case of taxi use, the receipt showing the route traveled

Travel and Bookings

It is strongly recommended to use the BizAway platform for travel bookings, where available. Public transportation such as trains, planes, metro, and trams should be preferred. Mileage and parking reimbursements can only be requested if no public transport alternatives are available.

Taxi use is discouraged, except in cases of proven necessity.

All bookings made through BizAway must be recorded under the People Care circle, selecting the reason: Medical Examination.

General Information

The medical examination is free of charge for the employee.

It is advisable to bring any previous health records issued by former employers to facilitate the Occupational Physician’s assessment.
